Lyme Disease

Lyme Disease is named for a town in Connecticut -- Lyme, Connecticut, where there was an early outbreak of this disease and studies have shown that approximately 90% of lyme disease cases occur on the east coast. Lyme is caused by a bacteria called borrelia burgdorferi, which is passed to dogs through a bite from the deer tick. Antibiotics will reduce the signs of the disease but it does not clear the spirochetes from the body.
